Sheriff William Yessman is warning residents of a potential scam involving a person or persons pretending to be NYSEG Employees. On March 12, 2015 the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Montour Falls resident about a white female presenting herself as a NYSEG employee. During the encounter the person attempted to obtain money from the resident by telling them that they were behind on their electric bill and that they could pay her directly. Any citizen that has any information about this scam or is confronted by this activity is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Office at 607-535-8222.
