NYSEG scam suspected in Schuyler County

Sheriff William Yessman is warning residents of a potential scam involving a person or persons pretending to be NYSEG Employees. On March 12, 2015 the Sheriff’s Office received a call from a Montour Falls resident about a white female presenting herself as a NYSEG employee. During the encounter the person attempted to obtain money from the resident by telling them that they were behind on their electric bill and that they could pay her directly.
