The Newark Reds held a 5 point lead over School of the Arts with just over one minute remaining in regulation of the Section V Class A2 semifinal game at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester on Tuesday evening. They would lose the lead and eventually fall in overtime, 71-61, dropping a heartbreaker for the second straight year in the A2 semis.Christian Simmons was an unstoppable force in the second half finishing with 32 points and 16 rebounds alongside Sergio Alicea who had 25 points with 4 three pointers.For Newark, it was Tyler Collins scoring 23 points, pulling down 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in his final game in a Newark Reds uniform. Next season, Newark will drop to Class B2 based on enrollment numbers.

The Class B1 semifinal game between Palmyra-Macedon and Leadership Academy was postponed due to weather to 7:00 pm Wednesday night at East Rochester.Also on Wednesday night, North Rose-Wolcott takes on Marcus Whitman in the Class B2 semifinal game in Waterloo in a game that will be webcast live on FL1 Sports at 7:00 pm.
