A frigid forecast for our region threatened cancellation of school this morning, which would have impacted the high school basketball slate, but the schools playing in key league games this evening were all in session and Friday Night High School Basketball is a go! Dress warm if you’re heading out to the gym tonight…In the Finger Lakes East…Penn Yan visits Newark at 7:30 in a game that will be webcast live on FL1 Sports. With a win, Newark will clinch sole-possession of the Finger Lakes East crown. If Penn Yan should win, and Mynderse can beat Pal-Mac tonight, the Blue Devils would have a chance to share the title with Newark by defeated the Reds on Tuesday in Seneca Falls. Brendan Harrington and Tane Robinson have the call tonight…In Wayne County…The North Rose-Wolcott Cougars visit the Atwood Gymnasium to face Lyons. The Lions need to win to claim a share of the Wayne County title with Red Creek. This is assuming Red Creek defeats a 3-win Williamson team tonight, and that the Lyons defeat a 2-win Marion team next week. We’ll have live updates from this game during our webcast in Newark. Red Creek has never won the Wayne County title in their school history, but with a win tonight, will have clinched at least a share. In the Finger Lakes West…Naples has a 2-game lead over Dundee (who they’ve beaten twice) and travel to Bloomfield on Saturday before finishing their regular season with South Seneca and Red Jacket. They’ll need 2 wins to clinch sole-possession fo the West title, three wins will give them an undefeated regular season.W-FL on Twitter:
