Brutus man charged with sexual misconduct & burglary

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one person in connection with two separate investigations.Anthony R. DiAngelo III, age 20, of 41 Middle Lane in the Town of Brutus, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with two counts of Sexual Misconduct (misdemeanor) in regard to him having sexual contact with a 15-year-old female. He was arraigned in the Town of Fleming Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $5,000.00 cash or $10,000 bond.On Thursday, DiAngelo, formerly of Scipio, was charged with Burglary in the third degree (felony) and Grand Larceny in the fourth degree (felony) in connection with a burglary at the restaurant known as “The Gathering” on Route 38 in the Town of Moravia.That investigation has been ongoing since November 30, 2014 and information developed in the past week lead to the arrest. DiAngelo and a co-defendant, who has not been charged yet, forced entry to the building and stole a safe containing money. That investigation continues.There are no connections between these two investigations other than DiAngelo being a perpetrator in both.He was arraigned in the Town of Brutus Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
