Warmer air this afternoon followed by more snow, cold

A pair of weather systems are combining forces to bring some changeable weather to the Finger Lakes today and tomorrow. The first impact these systems had on our area was a batch of snow overnight into early this morning. This snow was a direct result of warm air pushing northward. Already, it is shifting east and will continue to gradually move out of our region this morning.Warmer air from the Ohio Valley will move in for this afternoon. It will actually be somewhat pleasant, with highs into the low and mid 30s. The last high temperature I recorded of 33º or higher was on January 24th, nearly 2 weeks ago.The warm up will be short lived. A cold front will plow southward out of Canada tonight. A burst of snow is expected to develop ahead of this front and move through during the evening hours. A quick couple of inches will fall, making travel after 7 or 8pm sloppy.Bitter cold air will flood back into the region, with temperatures Thursday morning around 0º once again. Highs on Thursday will struggle into the teens, with wind chills below zero most of the day and especially Thursday night. For the latest local forecast and live radar images visit the FingerLakes1.com FingerLakes1.com Local Weather Center.
