Romulus man tries to kick deputy during arrest

The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on Sunday at approximately 9:30 pm Deputies arrested Rodney W. Smith Jr., age 49 of 6772 Rt. 96A in Romulus. Deputies were called to Smith’s residence for the report of a domestic dispute. While on scene, Deputies observed multiple bags and containers of marijuana in plain view. It was also discovered that a child lived at the residence. Smith was then placed into custody at which time he attempted to kick one of the Deputies. Smith was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana, Harassment 2nd, and Unlawfully Dealing with a Child. Smith was arraigned at the Town of Romulus Court where he was committed to the custody of the Sheriff in lieu of $500/$1000. He is scheduled to reappear on 01/23/15 at 10:30 am. A Stay Away Order of Protection was issued on behalf of the child. Child Protective Services was notified of the incident.
