Two Finger Lakes East teams met in a non-league game at Red Jacket when Mynderse faced off against Geneva, a team the Blue Devils had beaten three weeks ago, in the tournament championship game. This time, it would be Brian Miller’s Panthers who would prevail, 62-49, for Geneva’s second straight win.Geneva’s Marquan Ross had a huge weekend following up Friday night’s 33 point, 11 rebound effort with 23 points on Saturday. The weekend wins are the first two for the Panthers coming off their sectional championship last season. Geneva now stands at 2-6 on the season after a brutal early season schedule.Coach Miller said, “I felt we were starting to finally get it earlier this week in practice. We’re not there yet, but getting better. The kids are starting to understand”. They’ll have plenty more time to work it out in practice. Geneva doesn’t hit the court again until January 6th when they travel to face Penn Yan in a must-win if Geneva, already with 2 league losses, is to make a run at defending their FL East title.Mynderse also won’t play again until Tuesday, January 6th when they host Midlakes in a game that will be broadcast live on FingerLakes1.TV.Over in Gananda, School of the Arts took the title but it was Midlakes defeating Gananda in the consolation game that drew the most surprise. It was the first win of the season for Midlakes against a 2-2 Gananda team despite a 26 point effort from Brad Doway.Full results below…RED JACKET TOURNAMENTGeneva 62 Mynderse 49 GEN – (2-6) Marquan Ross 23; Jeremy Brant 9; Trayshawn Ross 8MYN – (5-2) Liam Caraher 17
