Sheriff David Gould reports that numerous residents of Cayuga County have received a telephone call from a subject claiming that the resident failed to show up for Grand Jury and that a warrant for their arrest will be issued unless they immediately pay a fine. The caller has gone so far as to impersonate members of the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office. This is a scam. Residents should simply hang up on this caller. Do not give any information and do not send money. The Sheriff’s Office never collects fine money and never offers a fine in lieu of a warrant.
