Newark, Pal-Mac notch wins in Victor

Three Finger Lakes East boys varsity basketball teams were in action along with tournament host Victor in a high school hoops triple-header at the 2014 Dale Bardun Memorial Classic on Saturday evening.The afternoon started out with a new-look Geneva facing Wilson-Magnet out of the Rochester City Catholic League. Wilson was too much for the inexperienced Geneva squad coming out with a 63-35 win. Darius Hartzog had 17 points including four 3 pointers to lead Wilson-Magnet. Delmarius Jackson led the Panthers with 8. Geneva falls to 0-2 to begin the defense of their sectional title.The second game of the night featured two great points guards as Livonia squared off against Newark. The Reds would ride a fantastic 26 point, 10 assist and 9 rebound effort from senior PG Tyler Collins to a 68-58 victory. Shamar Logins would add 16 points and 12 rebounds as Newark opens their season at 1-0. Ricky Allen, Livonia’s standout junior point guard finished with a game high 27 points.In the night-cap, Palmyra-Macedon out-shot the Victor Blue Devils en route to a 73-64 win over the hosts. Holden Knorr poured in a tournament high 30 points burying 7 three pointers while Victor sophomore Jake DiSanto dropped in 5 three pointers to finish with 20. Victor big man Grant Hildman scored 28 in the loss.
