Mynderse, Lyons notch opening wins at NYCC

The 2014-15 Wayne-Finger Lakes basketball season tipped-off on Saturday night in Seneca Falls on the campus of the New York Chiropractic College for the NYCC Tip-Off Classic. The twin-bill featured Southern Cayuga out of Section 4 along with Lyons, South Seneca and Mynderse.In the first game, Lyons jumped out to an early 20+ point lead and never looked back recording a 72-33 victory. Lyons senior PG Damon Hunter scored 15 first half points and finished with 20 along with 4 assists. Dion Tarver added 11 points and 6 steals. Southern Cayuga big man Justin Schneider played well with 18 points and 13 rebounds.In the second game, the Mynderse Blue Devils shot the lights out en route to a 73-28 win over the South Seneca Falcons. Mynderse senior guard Liam Caraher scored 25 points including 3 straight trifectas to end the first quarter. Sophomore Devin Verkey added 17 points and 5 assists and sophomore guard Jake Jones scored 10 points and added 4 assists. Starting PG Brett Anderson scored 5 points and added 8 assists and 7 rebounds on the night.
