HS Hoops season tips-off on FL1 Sports tonight

The 2014-15 high school basketball season will get underway tonight with a double-header featuring a team from each of the Wayne-Finger Lakes leagues along with last year’s Section 4 Class D Sectional runner-up.The inaugural NYCC Tip-Off Classic in Seneca Falls begins at 5:30 pm with a match-up between Lyons and Southern Cayuga. Lyons head coach Zac Young brings an experienced team into the upcoming season and and Lions have one of the most prolific and exciting players in Section V at point guard in 5’10 senior Damon Hunter. Complimenting Hunter will be Nick Fera, Dion Tarver and 6’7 Jordan Aumell. The second game will tip-off at approximately 7:30 with the hometown Mynderse Academy Blue Devils facing their historic south end rival, the South Seneca Falcons. Falcons head coach Dan Lent is working to rebuild the once proud South Seneca boys basketball tradition and this year’s team should be competitive in the Finger Lakes West. Mynderse, on the other hand, is just one season removed from their last sectional title and head coach Nick Sciotti has a ton of new faces and young talent to make another run at the Big House. Mynderse will feature senior guard Liam Caraher and sophomore scoring sensation Devin Verkey.FL1 Sports will be broadcast both games live, in 720p high definition, from the Standard Process Health and Fitness Center at NYCC in Seneca Falls on FingerLakes1.TV and YouTube.
