Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports on November 14th, 2014 at 10:06 a.m. Deputies, along with Fayette Fire Department and North Seneca Ambulance, responded to the area of 4608 State Route 89 in the town of Varick for a Personal Injury Accident. Craig J. Altobello, age 31 of 149 Tremaine Ave in Kenmore NY was air lifted after an extensive extrication, via LifeNet to Strong Memorial Hospital after his 2004 Pontiac Bonneville was traveling Northbound on Route 89 and struck another vehicle head on. It is reported that Altobello fell asleep behind the wheel which caused him to drift into oncoming traffic. Altobello’s vehicle was in the Southbound lane when his vehicle struck Glen Rutherford’s 2014 Toyota Sienna which was heading Southbound on Route 89. Glen Rutherford, a ge 42, of 122 Overbrook Rd in Rochester NY was taken via North Seneca Ambulance to Geneva General Hospital where he was treated for a fractured wrist and released. Altobello was treated for complaints of chest pain and later released from Strong Memorial Hospital. Both vehicles were towed from the scene due to heavy front end damage. No summons’ were issued.
