Sheriff David Gould reports that arrests have been made in connection with larcenies from vehicles which have been occurring recently in the City of Auburn and the Town of Owasco. Over the past several days Perpetrators have been smashing vehicle windows with rocks and stealing money, purses, wallets and other items from within.Yesterday, during a joint investigation between the Auburn City Police and Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office, potential suspect descriptions were identified. At approximately 3:00am this morning, Deputy Sheriff’s patrolling the Owasco and City bordering area came across three subjects on Osborne St. in the City, one of them fitting the description of one of the suspects identified yesterday. The three were detained and the members of the Auburn Police Department responded. The ensuing investigation has led to the arrest of three persons connected to the crimes.They have been charged this morning by the Auburn Police with crimes committed in the City of Auburn. A fourth suspect has been identified as well. Charges by the Sheriff’s Office in connection with the crimes committed in the Town of Owasco are forthcoming.Anyone with further information about these crimes is asked to contact Detective Brian Schenck at (315) 253-3545.
