Monday morning winter storm update

So far, this storm system is behaving almost exactly as expected. The first batch of precipitation has moved through and most of the region is in a lull early this morning. That lull will not last as a large area of precipitation gets set to overspread the Finger Lakes by mid-morning.Looking at the current observations, this precipitation should come in as all rain for places like Elmira, Ithaca and Binghamton.Snow should change to rain fairly quickly this morning for Geneva, Auburn and Syracuse, but areas from roughly Rochester to Bradford, PA should primarily remain snow. The highest snow accumulations will be in the higher elevations of southwest New York, where as much as 6″ may fall. The Rochester area should see a couple more inches, but nothing too significant. The precipitation will taper off this evening before some lake effect snow develops overnight. For most of the Finger Lakes, no more than an inch or two should fall overnight. For the latest local forecast and live radar images visit the FingerLakes1.com FingerLakes1.com Local Weather Center.
