The New York State Gaming Facility Location Board held a meeting behind closed doors on Monday to review the 16 applications for the four casino licenses in the Southern Tier/Catskills region, the Albany area and the Catskills/Hudson Valley area. The meeting lasted several hours before the five-member ultimately closed the meeting without a decision. They are scheduled to meet again on Friday, November 21.This was not the first private meeting of the board to review the applications. The board has said all along that it’s decision would be this fall, as early as October. There are three bidders for the Southern Tier/Finger Lakes including the proposed Lago Casino and Resort in Tyre, NY. No region can win more than two licenses which leaves the door open for the potential of the Tyre proposal to be accepted even if one of the competing proposals in the southern zone of the Southern Tier/Finger Lakes region is granted a license. The board has consistently stated since the beginning of this process that their decision would be made this fall.
