Christmas in Aurora schedule released

On Saturday, December 6, 2014, the Aurora Arts and Merchants Association will present its annual Christmas in Aurora celebration. The day will begin at 10:00 a.m., as shops and pop-up vendors open, and closes at 7:15 p.m. with a hammered dulcimer concert at the Morgan Opera House. Village shops will offer special sales throughout the day, and pop-up vendor stalls will be located at the Aurora Inn at 391 Main Street.Festivities will include a holiday cookie contest, a raffle for an overnight stay at the Inns of Aurora, horse-drawn wagon rides, a silent auction hosted by the Scipio Masonic Lodge, a holiday house tour, and a holiday house decorating contest. The Aurora Volunteer Fire Department will be selling pizza beginning at 4:00 p.m. The annual Christmas tree lighting and visit from Santa Claus will be held front of the village post office at 6:00 p.m. A listing of events follows.“Christmas in Aurora is one of my favorite days of the year,” remarks Ivan Goloub, one of the event organizers. “It’s a great day for a family or a group of friends to spend touring the village—almost every building here participates in some way.
