Rainy day Thursday in the FLX; Temps to drop

A complex weather set up will bring us a rainy day today and cold weather on Friday. An area of low pressure is tracking southeast across the Great Lakes this morning. Ahead of this low, a stalled out front extends along the Appalachians with a couple of pulses of energy riding north along the front.Precipitation is breaking out this morning across western New York and northern Pennsylvania where the energy from these two systems is interacting. As the day goes on, this rain should spread across the rest of the Finger Lakes as the Great Lakes low tracks to our south. Rain fall totals today will exceed 1/2″ in many locations, but should not get excessive. All of the different parts of this complex will come together to spawn a new area of low pressure off the east coast. this will pull down some very chilly air for Friday, with temperatures much of the day stuck in the 30s. By late in the day, snow may be mixing with the remaining snow showers and coating to an inch or so may be possible over the higher elevations. The weather will be quieter this weekend, but still chilly with highs both Saturday and Sunday in the mid 40s.
