Briefly comfortable weather here in the FLX

After a few hot and humid days, today will feel very comfortable, thanks to the cold front that moved through last night. That front is already well off of the New England coast and high pressure has built in from the south. With clockwise winds around high pressure, this high is helping to deliver some dry, cooler air into our region from Canada.Today will be sunny (after morning fog burns off) with highs in the mid to upper 70s with a couple of the normally warmer locations along the Lake Plain touching 80º. Watch out for more fog tonight and early on Thursday morning. This sprawling high pressure system may be bringing us cooler weather today, but southerly winds on its backside are reloading the heat across the middle of the nation. As high pressure moves to a position off of the southeast coast, this heat will spill eastward.Temperatures on Thursday should mostly be near or above 80º, but the real heat comes in on Friday. With plenty of sun and warm southerly winds, high temperatures should push 90º in many locations, with temperatures above 90º likely across the Lake Plain from Rochester to Syracuse. The heat will vanish as quickly as it came though. A strong cold front will plow through the region Saturday morning with rain and thunder. Temperatures behind the front will be in the 60s by Saturday afternoon. For the latest local forecast, conditions, and live radar images visit the FingerLakes1.com Local Weather Center.
