High speed chase through Seneca Co. on Sunday

The Seneca County Sheriffs Office reports that on Sunday at approximately 2:30 am deputies stopped a green 1998 Chevy Malibu for a vehicle and traffic violation on River Road in the Town of Seneca Falls. Deputies report that during the traffic stop, the operator of the green Chevy Malibu, who was later identified as Chad Weaver, age 27 of 117 E. Elisha Street in Waterloo, put the vehicle in gear and sped off in an attempt to evade law enforcement.Deputies attempted to stop Weaver as he fled eastbound on Bayard Street through the Town of Seneca Falls. The chase continued, south bound, at a high rate of speed on State Route 89 through the towns of Seneca Falls, Fayette, Varick, and Romulus. Deputies terminated the pursuit for safety when Weaver began to take back roads.Deputies later located the vehicle on a service road at a local business in the Village of Waterloo where Weaver and his passenger were taken into custody at 4:52 am. The passenger was identified as Cherie E. Smith, age 25 of E. Elisha Street in Waterloo.ChadWeaver was charged with Felony Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree, Unlawfully Fleeing From a Police Officer, Operating without an Ignition Interlock Device, Speeding, and several other vehicle and traffic violations.Cherie E. Smith was charged with Conspiracy in the 5th Degree, Facilitating Aggravating Unlicensed Operation, and allowing Weaver to Circumvent the Ignition interlock device.Weaver was arraigned in the Town of Seneca Falls and was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. Weaver is to appear on the 21st of August for a Felony Hearing at the Seneca Falls Town Court.Smith was arraigned in the Town of Seneca Falls Court and was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility on $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bail bond. Smith is to appear on the 9th of September at 6:00 pm at the Seneca Falls Town Court.The Seneca County Sheriffs Office was assisted by the New York State Police, Seneca Falls Police, and Waterloo Police Department.
