Rainy Tuesday ahead of August cool-down

Rain has returned to the Finger Lakes this morning as a pair of frontal systems impact the area. While the rain has already pushed east of some areas in the Finger Lakes, showers and some steady rain should continue this morning as more rain develops. Some of the rain could be a bit heavy, but should be a far cry from causing any flooding woes. This rain will move east this afternoon, leaving us with just some showers and maybe even a little sun. However, showers and thunderstorms will be reloading to the west. Some of the thunderstorms could get strong to severe as well, with gusty winds the primary threat. These thunderstorms will merge into another band of heavy rain that will move east across the Finger Lakes this evening. Within any thunderstorms, some of the rain could come down very hard and very quick, which could lead to some localized drainage problems. This band will move east late tonight and should totally clear the Finger Lakes sometime after midnight as the cold front moves through. Chilly air will come in behind the front and keep temperatures below average the remainder of the work week. For the latest local forecast, conditions, and live radar images visit the FingerLakes1.com Local Weather Center.
