Sheriff David Gould reports the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a daytime residential burglary which occurred between 7:00am and 5:30pm on Wednesday on Oakland Rd. near Compton Rd. in the Town of Brutus. Unknown person(s) forced entry to a residence and stole 2 long guns, change and electronics. One of the long guns is inoperable.Detectives are interested in speaking with anyone who witnessed anyone walking in the area, parked in the area or had a stranger knock on their door.On July 7th the Sheriff’s Office took a report of a similar style burglary on Day Rd. in the Town of Brutus. Unknown person(s) forced entry to a residence there as well stealing 2 pellet pistols and change. The two burglaries appear to be related.Anyone with information on either of these cases is asked to contact Detective Brian Schenck at (315) 253-3545.
