Chance of rain increases as day rolls on

It may not seem much like a day for thunderstorms with morning temperatures in the 40s and low 50s. Saranac Lake even dropped all the way to 37 degrees! But, showers and storms were ongoing this morning at 6 am over western New York and Pennsylvania, associated with a slow moving disturbance rotating around a large upper level low stalled out near the Hudson Bay in Canada. The showers and storms on the radar this morning will drift east and fall apart, but new rain should develop in their wake. These will again start over western New York late this morning and early in the afternoon. They will gradually move east, with rain most likely in the late afternoon for the eastern 2/3rds of the Finger Lakes.Any of the thunderstorms embedded within the rain should not be overly robust. Severe weather is not expected. More showers and storms are possible Thursday and Friday, with at least some chance for rain through the weekend as well.
