Glenora Wine Cellars is proud to announce the release of three limited release 2013 Pinot Blanc wines fermented in a concrete egg shaped tank, neutral oak barrels, and a stainless steel tank. Also available is the standard 2013 vintage release of Pinot Blanc, a blend of the neutral oak and stainless steel components. To highlight these new wines, an exclusive, private tasting called the “Pinot Blanc Trilogy Experience” is now offered daily in which visitors can taste each Pinot Blanc side by side to discover the unique differences in the wines themselves. The tasting is $8.00 per person, and is the only way to taste the trilogy when visiting the tasting room. “This project was extra rewarding to work on,” said Steve DiFrancesco, Winemaker. “This unique tasting experience offers an opportunity for our guests to see how much of an impact the fermentation vessel makes on the wine, especially the concrete egg tank, which is something so new to the Finger Lakes.”Glenora Wine Cellars is one of only three Finger Lakes wineries that produce Pinot Blanc and the first in the Finger Lakes to utilize a concrete egg for wine production. The Pinot Blanc grapes were grown by Scott Welliver, co-owner of Glenora Wine Cellars, on the east side of Seneca Lake. They were harvested in September of 2013, then crushed at Glenora, and pressed into juice. The juice was inoculated with yeast, and split three ways into the concrete egg tank, French oak barrels, and a stainless steel. During fermentation, the three wines began to take on personalities of their own. Only 70 cases of each wine were produced, and all wines, including the standard vintage release, are finished with a Stelvin closure. The standard vintage 2013 Pinot Blanc retails at $14.99, while the trilogy of wines retail at $19.99 per bottle and are only available for purchase in the tasting room and online at www.glenora.com. Glenora Wine Cellars, a pioneer in the renaissance of the Finger Lakes wine industry, has been producing award-winning high quality wines for over 36 years. In 1977, Glenora Wine Cellars was the first winery to open on Seneca Lake in the heart of New York’s Finger Lakes Wine Country. Today the property offers a 30-room inn (Inn at Glenora) and a gourmet restaurant (Veraisons) adjoining the winery on its beautifully groomed 40-acre estate.
