The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce has announced that Cayuga Lake Creamery has been selected as the Chamber’s June 2014 Business of the Month. Owner Jeff Kostick accepted the award at the Chamber’s Business-After-Hours Mixer, held on June 18 at the Driftwood Inn Bed and Breakfast in Ovid.Located at 8421 Route 89 in Interlaken, Cayuga Lake Creamery opened in the spring of 2004. A family owned and operated business; it specializes in homemade ice cream that is made on site from premium products. Offering a variety of unique flavors to complement a common favorite and best seller, vanilla, the creamery also features Seneca Salt Caramel, sorbets, gluten free, soy-based, no sugar added & fat free, creamy soft serve custard options, and seasonal flavors such as Pumpkin and Lavender. In addition to serving homemade ice cream, Cayuga Lake Creamery also serves food, catering to many tourists visiting the Cayuga Lake Wine Trail and travelers along the Cayuga Lake Scenic Byway. In 2010 Cayuga Lake Creamery was featured by USA Today Travel when it was chosen as the New York selection for The USA’s Best Ice Cream: Top Parlors in 50 States. In April 2014 the Creamery celebrated their 10th anniversary. With formal degrees and a background in Electrical, Computer and Bio-Engineering, owner Jeff Kostick explained that it was after being laid off from the computer industry post 9-11, and unable to find work again in his field that was what led him to the world of ice cream. “I thought about what I could do in the Finger Lakes area- which is where I had a summer cottage, and it was the only thing that seemed interesting since we could never find a good ice cream place up this way! So we started to look for a location and found this property- which was on the wine trail and close to our cottage.”When not at the Creamery, Jeff serves as a member of the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, on the Seneca County Advisory Committee On Tourism (SCACOT), and is a member of the board for the Cayuga Lake Scenic Byway.
