Man fires long gun in downtown Seneca Falls

On Tuesday at approximately 12:58 am, the Town of Seneca Falls Police Department arrested Michael J. Dingman, age 25 of 144 Fall Street Apartment 4 in Seneca Falls, following a police investigation into gun shots being fired in the downtown area.Town Police received a report of a male walking around Fall Street in the area of the Byrne Dairy with a long gun and that the male had discharged one round from the long gun.Police located Dingman walking with the gun in the vicinity of the Byrne Dairy and determined that Dingman was the one who discharged one round from a loaded rifle into the air within the vicinity of several dwellings. Dingman was also believed to be intoxicated at the time of this incident and arrest. Dingman now faces charges of Reckless Endangerment in the 2nd Degree, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Dwelling, and a town code violation of Discharging a Firearm in the Former Village of Seneca Falls limits.He was arraigned in Seneca Falls Town Court before the Honorable Judge Laquidari and committed to SCCF on $1000 Cash/$2000 Bond and has to re-appear in court on 07/10/14 at 6:00 p.m. to answer the charges. The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office, Waterloo Police Department, and New York State Police assisted Town of Seneca Falls Police.
