Mother Earth Natural Foods helped set the stage for buying healthy, natural foods in Geneva before the trend became part of the mainstream. The Geneva Business Improvement District recognizes Mother Earth’s 35 years of success and contribution to the community by honoring owners and sisters Cindy Bowen and Melinda Wade as the BID Business of the Month.”Mother Earth has always been supportive of the community,” said John Hicks, executive director of the BID. “They are a unique part of downtown, and patrons drive for miles to shop at this store. They are very special to Geneva, nice to do business with, and an outstanding store for this region.”Mother Earth Natural Foods, located at 440 Exchange Street, first opened in 1979 by Bowen with help from her parents, Hubert and Mary Hoppe. Eleven years later, Wade moved back from California and became Bowen’s “right hand man” helping to manage the venture.”It has been a tough labor of love,” commented Bowen. “Much has changed over the years; the location, the size of the store, the advances in technology, the growth of the natural foods industry and the awareness of the public on how important getting and staying healthy is.”But one things has not changed- Mother Earth Natural Foods is still dedicated to providing the best quality products from companies we trust; to helping our customers to make good choices for their health through education and awareness of all alternatives available to them; and always making customer service our number one priority,” she continued. The store offers a variety of natural products, wholesome foods, essential oils, and natural vitamins and supplements.”We brought in this concept before people really had a true concept of what it was,” said Wade. “We were always rooted in natural health and this store was here before natural living was a trend.””This is a store that comes from the heart,” said Hicks. “We are so happy that we could present this deserving store with this honor.”
