On June 6th members of the Waterloo Community Garden completed their 2nd Annual Sponsorship Campaign. Members asked local businesses, friends, and families to donate during the campaign in order to raise funds for the garden.”Every year we have to buy plants, as well as buying more supplies- like our new wheelbarrow and more bags of soil for our raised beds. The garden is supported only by what donations we receive so we rely heavily on this campaign to help bring in funds to make those kinds of purchases throughout the year,” said Josh McKimm, Sponsorship Coordinator. This year the garden members would like to thank the following individuals for committing to a ‘Gold Level’ sponsorship: Gordon & Onnie GoodmanMike & Candie McKimmJosh & Jess McKimm As well as honorably mentioning our local business support for this campaign: Next to New, Coe-Genung Funeral Home, Harmony Food Pantry, Seneca Mini-Mart, Valley Pharmacy, Ciccinio’s, and Tally Ho.”The crops that we grow each year are divided up by our members and then the remainder is donated to local food pantries, like the Harmony Food Pantry right here in Waterloo,” added Garden Manager, Jennifer Dressing.Anybody who would like to join free-of-charge, make a donation, or is interested in becoming a sponsor in the next campaign should contact Dressing at (315) 745-9993.
