Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg reminds boaters that both Cayuga and Seneca Lakes are open to boat traffic, however, he cautions boat operators to exercise extreme caution to reduce their wake and be on the alert for submerged or partially submerged debris. With the recent runoff, there is a large amout of debris on both lakes which could present a hazard to unattentive boaters. Sheriff Stenberg also requests boat operators to reduce their wakes in residental areas to prevent damage to docks and seawalls. The Seneca County Sheriffs office will continue to monitor the lake levels and may take more stringent action if warranted.
