South Seneca scores awards at Pageant of Bands

Congratulations to the South Seneca High School Jazz Band and Color Guard &Twirlers who represented SSCS at the Seneca Falls Band Pageant and each won first place in their respective divisions. The Jazz Band performed three numbers in contrasting style for judges to evaluate and provide a clinic afterwards with the studetns to share constructive suggestions.The experience was a very positive one and the jazz band performed with featured solos by Emylee Boyes, Cierra Hand, Leianne Eberts, Pam Bower and Leslie Worden.The Jazz band along with the middel school and high school concert bands, drum line and marching band will be appearing next at Gorham on May 30th and 31st to compete.The South Seneca High School Jazz Band is directed by, Raymond A. Zajac, Jr. Mr. Zajac also directs the South Seneca Middle School and High School Concert Bands, HS/MS Marching Band , MS/HS Jazz Band and Drum line.The Color Guard and Twirlers, known as “South Seneca Falcon Pride” is a new color guard team that was formed in January of this year, under the direction of Carrie Natale. These dedicated, young ladies won their divisions with their baton twirling, dance, and flag routines at their home competition in Ovid held in April.At the Seneca Falls Pageant of Bands they also won their baton twirling and color guard routines. They are traveling to compete at Twirling Unlimited Regionals in York, PA and will be competing at the Gorham Pageant of Bands. They will be performing all of their routines at the Ovid Strawberry Festival on Saturday, June 21, shortly after the parade. Team members are looking forward to competing on the winter guard circuit next season.
