If there is anywhere no one wanted to see the heaviest rain from this event fall, it is in the Penn Yan area. But it looks like that is exactly where it is happening.A Flash Flood Warning exists for most of Yates and northern Steuben County, with flooding reported in numerous locations, including Penn Yan.The rain has been only very slowly creeping east. Instead of stalling out over the eastern Finger Lakes, it picked the western Finger Lakes. While the rain will move out of western New York by the mid morning hours, the western Finger Lakes will likely not clear out until the late morning. That means the areas that have already had the most rain have a lot more to come.Further east, in the Auburn-Ithaca corridor, the rain has been on and off so far. At my house in Groton (northeast of Ithaca), as of 6:30am I have 0.35″ compared to the 1″+ that is widespread further west. The rain in these areas should move out by early afternoon, resulting in a shorter event and lesser totals
