Dozens of brightly painted shoes will be placed on the sidewalk this Friday and Saturday to guide visitors through Seneca Fall’s first annual Art Walk. Sculptors, painters, potters, crafters and artists of all types will display and sell their work in shops, restaurants and other temporary gallery spaces along Fall and State streets. The Art Walk, which begins Friday May 16th from 6-9 pm and continues Saturday May 17th from 10-3, is a joint effort of the Seneca County Arts Council and the Seneca Falls Business Association. The event is free and open to the public. “Art Walks create a sense of local pride, making the community aware of just how much talent we have in our midst,” says Beverly Lombardo, president of the Arts Council. On Friday evening the Arts Council and several of the downtown host businesses will offer wine tastings and refreshments. Also on Friday, there will be live music by acoustic guitarist Amy Babiarz, at WomanMade Products and at the Gould hotel Laura and Zack will perform 7-10 pm. The free music continues on Saturday, with Rick Hoyt and the Cool Club playing outdoors on Fall Street from 12-3. To add to the fun, area restaurants will offer arts-related lunch/dinner specials. The Seneca Falls Art Walk will be a family friendly and educational event, with face painting, free popcorn, and interactive projects for children. Visitors will have a chance to watch as painters, potters and other artists demonstrate their craft. “For those of us who don’t often get the opportunity to go to art museums, it is great to have the art come right here to downtown” said Ann Sandroni, president of the SFBA.A total of 30 artists, some from as far away as Buffalo and Albany, will participate in the Art Walk.
