Soprano, Qian Ye, will be making a special performance on May 18 at the Ohmann Theatre in Lyons. Qian Ye, soprano, was born in China, received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the Shang Hai Conservatory, her Masters in Vocal Performance and an Artist Diploma from N. Novgorod Glinka Conservatory in Russia. She is currently studying with Shelley Jameson in her private studio. Private coaching with famous Opera singer Marianne Cornetti in 2011.Qian Ye has performed as Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro with Opera Theater of Kremlin Palace in Russia, Marguerite in Faust with N. Novgorod Glinka Conservatory Opera Hall in Russia, Second Lady in Magic Flute with Nyack College Concert Hall and sang Mimi in La Boheme with Nyack College Concert Hall in USA among others. In 2012, she also performed many concerts in Belgium and The Netherlands and got chance to perform with Opera Conductor and Director Dirk Baert. In 2013 Qian also performed two operatic recitals in New Jersey, two in New York, one in China and one in Florida. This year Qian gave an operatic concert in NYC in January and performed the German opera “Der Freischutz” in NYC in March. Qian Ye will be accompanied by Domenic Guastaferro. Guastaferro made his debut in New York as a featured singer of The Impossible Dream with the NEW VOICES OF ’74 at Radio City Music Hall after leaving his native Buffalo & Orchard Park, N.Y. and singing opera in Italy.A career in every medium from The Goldovsky Opera Co. to soap operas to a role in the film Arthur followed. He played opposite Julius LaRosa in A Broadway Musical. Among his many roles he has performed are Fred in KISS ME KATE, DeBecque in SOUTH PACIFIC, Capt. VonTrapp in THE SOUND OF MUSIC, and Don Quixotte in MAN OF LA MANCHA. He and his wife Jia, along with his two sons, James and John reside in New York City. He has been the music director of Sts Philip and James choir of the Bronx for over 16 years now. Guastaferro gives thanks and glory to the Lord for His amazing grace, love and blessings in being able to be part of this recital accompanying Qian Ye (as well as at her New York City debut through the Lamb’s Club earlier this year).The performance will be at 7pm at the Ohmann Theatre, tickets are $15 general audience and proceeds will benefit The Trail of Hope in Lyons.
