Watkins Glen Waterfont Festival coming in June

The Watkins Glen Waterfront Festival Committee of Arrangements is very pleased to announce that “Spirit of Schuyler” has been selected as the benefactor of funds raised as part of the Concourse de Cardboard events. During the past five years the festival committee has enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the JDRF Team of the Southern Tier while raising over $5,000. This year the committee felt it was time to keep the funds raised by this event even closer to home…and with the blessing of the JDRF Team, Spirit of Schuyler seemed the perfect fit.The Spirit of Schuyler is a volunteer organization that is dedicated to helping improve the quality of life in Schuyler County. Working with all County Organizations, the Spirit of Schuyler, through the generous donations of Schuyler residents and sponsors from around the country, provide financial assistance for Schuyler County residents in time of emergency.The 21st Annual Watkins Glen Waterfront Festival is being held June 13th and 14th in Seneca Harbor Park. The Cardboard Regatta Concourse de Cardboard takes place Saturday June 14th from Noon to 2pm in the Seneca Harbor Marina parking area. This “extremely unique” display shows off the artistry, creativity and craftiness that it takes to build a seagoing craft constructed entirely of cardboard, duct tape and paint. The Committee of Arrangements felt that the public should be offered the opportunity to select the “Most Popular Boat”. Each Cardboard Boat entry is given a “People’s Choice” voting bag. To vote for a favored boat, glass stones” are purchased and placed in the favored voting bag. During the event, boat teams “highly encourage” the public to votes for their boat. The Spirit of Schuyler Cardboard Regatta “Sales Team” will be on hand to oversee the voting and will undoubtedly have a few offers of encouragement of their own in order to raise sales. Every vote cast is money raised for Spirit of Schuyler, while the boat named Most Popular wins a Regatta Paddle. All proceeds benefit Spirit of Schuyler.Save the date…June 14th at Seneca Harbor Park from Noon to 2pm for the Seneca Lake Cardboard Regatta Concourse de Cardboard. Regatta begins immediately following at 2pm.
