On Thursday morning at 1:08 am, Penn Yan Village Police received a call of a male on the Main Street bridge who was threatening to jump into the outlet.Officers arrived to find a 45-year-old male, whose name is being withheld, down on the spillway for the outlet threatening to jump.Yates County Sheriff’s Deputies were able to establish a rapport with the male and convinced him to surrender.The male managed to climb out and was then taken into custody without further incident and transported to Soldiers and Sailors Hospital for a mental health evaluation.Village Police and Yates Sheriff’s Deputies were also assisted at the scene by the Penn Yan Fire Department and the Branchport Dive Team.
