Residents of Geneva, prepare to be engaged, and love your trees. The Geneva Neighborhood Resource Center is proud invite David Iannicello, Grounds Manager at HWS Colleges and chair of the City’s Shade-tree committee as the guest speaker on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 5:30 p.m.- 7:30 p.m. for this month’s “Engaged Resident Series.”In honor of Arbor Day (April 25, 2014), Iannicello will be discussing best practices for caring for shade trees along your street and in your yard. He will also be offering some helpful hints to ensure that trees are properly cared for, promoting good health, beautiful scenery, and reduction of public safety risks. Shade trees not only promote environmental health, but also increase social, economic and aesthetic value to our local communities. For the 2012-13 season, the City of Geneva planted the following types of trees: Trident Maple, Flowering Dogwood, Amelanchier Shadblow, Rose Horsechestnut, American Hornbeam, Amur Cork Tree, London Plane Tree, Sugar Maple, and Zelkova.If you are interested in learning more about shade trees, or how to care for the ones that are currently on your property, you will not want to miss this month’s Engaged Resident Series.It’s time to love your trees, gear up for this year’s Arbor Day festivities, and become engaged!
