FL museum now certified NYS guide

Finger Lakes Museum Educators, Patricia Atkinson and Angela Cannon-Crothers, both received notification last week that they passed the New York State licensed guide exam. They are now certified New York State Outdoor Guides. The NYS Outdoor Guide program is administered by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Forest Rangers.Along with completing this specialized guide exam, it is required that all licensed guides hold current certification in First Aid, CPR, and Water Safety – all of which Pat and Angie have recently obtained. These licenses are valid for a period of five years from the date of issue. “The Museum is lucky to have such talented Educators in Pat and Angie” states Museum Communications and Programs Director Natalie Payne. “Both have years of experience leading educational programs and activities and we are pleased that they will continue to lead exciting, first-class programs for the Museum. As NYS Licensed Outdoor Guides, program participants can have confidence that they are receiving proper guidance and instruction, along with all of the necessary safety measures.” The Museum is scheduled to begin programming at its Discovery Campus this spring. The programming required that Museum Educators obtain this license. Programming will begin at the Museum’s Discovery Campus on May 11th and continue throughout the spring, summer, and fall. Focusing primarily on outdoor activities, the Museum’s program schedule includes exciting paddling opportunities and adventures for the entire family such as: Introductory paddling classes for adults and kids, sunset tours, Sunday morning eco-paddles, an endurance paddle, and more! Visit the Museum’s website at www.FingerLakesMuseum.org to learn of these opportunities or to register.
