Runners are a hardy sort. They are out there pounding the pavement through rain, snow, sleet and hail. But Jack Sutliffe hopes that there will be fair skies and sunny weather for the 15th annual Celebrate Commemorate 5K race. The certified race will start at 8:30 a.m. in Lafayette Park and proceed through the beautiful historic village that is the Birthplace of Memorial Day. Runners and walkers age 0 to more than 70 years old participate each year. “We always have about 300 runners and walkers for this race,” said Sutliffe. “People appreciate the good committee of volunteers who all help things run smoothly and make this a special event.
