The Seneca County Sheriff reports that on Monday at 2:30 pm, deputies responded to a machinery fire at 3400 County Road 143 in Trumansburg. Upon arrival deputies learned that Gerald R. Reynolds, age 76, of the same address was operating his 1975 Allis Chalmers combine when the machine stalled and he learned it was on fire.Reynolds attempted to extinguish the fire with an on board fire extinguisher, shortly after Trumansburg Fire Dept. arrived on scene and put out the fire.The fire started in the engine of the combine located in the rear of the machine. Reynolds had the machine insured which appeared to be a total loss. No injuries reported.
