Man airlifted after box cutter attack in Waterloo

The Waterloo Police Department arrested Michael C. Wells, age 30 of Church Street Apartments in Waterloo, for assault in the first degree. On Saturday, Waterloo Police responded to Wells apartment for the report of a male that had been cut with a knife. Through an investigation, it was determined that Wells had slashed a guest of the apartment three times with a box cutter style knife.The male victim suffered three major cuts during the altercation. The victim was cut on the back of his head, the left side of his throat and his left arm.North Seneca Ambulance responded and immediately transported the victim to Geneva General Hospital. The victim was then flown by Mercy Flight from Geneva to Strong Memorial Hospital as the bleeding could not be controlled.Wells was arraigned in the Village of Waterloo Court before Judge Barto where he was committed to the Seneca County Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 secured bond. A Stay Away Order of Protection was issued on behalf of the victim. On 3/17/16 the victim was released from Strong Memorial Hospital.
