Penn Yan bail-jumper found hiding in ceiling

On Wednesday, shortly after 8:00 pm, Penn Yan Village Police arrested James Sanford III, age 26 of Main Street in Penn Yan, on two warrants charging him with failure to appear for sentencing and third degree bail jumping.Sanford was hiding in his residence after Police were informed of his whereabouts. Officers from Penn Yan and the Yates County Sheriff’s Department made entry into the apartment and located Sanford hiding in the ceiling of an upstairs bathroom.Sanford was arraigned in the Penn Yan Village Court and sentenced to 30 days for the initial charge of AUO 3rd degree. He will be arraigned on the bail jumping charge on March 10th.
