The NYS Department of Transportation announced and upcoming project in Seneca Falls that will replace the bridge joints, repair the bridge substructure, and provide a new bridge wearing surface on the Route 89 Bridge over the Clyde River and Erie Canal.In order to replace the bridge joints, the bridge will be closed and traffic will be detoured utilizing State Routes 5, 31, and 90. It is anticipated that the detour will be in place for approximately 2-3 months.The closure will begin just after school is out of session in 2014 or 2015, depending on the contractor’s work schedule. Contract notes have been included to ensure that the work is done within the 3 months or the contractor will be penalized for not opening the bridge on time.
