3rd annual North Seneca Rail Jam on 3/1

Back for a third year, the 3nd Annual North Seneca Rail Jam will be held in Geneva on March 1st. The rail jam, presented by the Finger Lakes Skateboarding Club (FLXSB), features local, regional, and national snowboarders and skiers participating at various skill levels. The event will be held at 305 Main Street, between Seneca and Castle Streets on the site of the old Gigliotti’s gas station. There is a nominal fee to participate in the competition; contestants can register online at http://flxsb.com.“This is our third year doing this, and we have been busier than ever!” says Joe Marone. “This year the club has already hosted events at Alfred State and Geneva General Hospital, and we’re absolutely stoked by the love the riders and community have shown us.”The Rail Jam check in on March 1st is from 10:00am to 1:00pm at The Smith Opera House. Contestant warm-up’s will begin at noon and go until 1:30pm. The competition will begin promptly at 2:00pm. The event is open to the public at no charge and will include food, refreshments and a wide range of entertainment options, including product tosses, giveaways, with MC Paul Szmal and DJ Joe Mungo to lay down the beat.This year’s Rail Jam promises to be a significant step up from last year’s event. Co-organizer Jason Rogers states, “We have been working with the city to take this event to the next level. There has been a lot of work done to ensure a great experience for our contestants and the crowd.” This year’s jam will feature a hillside urban setup, with various features to choose from. Competitors, ski & snowboard alike, will have multiple options to come up with creative ways to land tricks.
