Sex offender arresred in Seneca County – FingerLakes1.com Archive

Seneca County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Mark D Schermerhorn, age 37, of 5488 State Route 96 Lot 2 Romulus, NY on Charges of failing to report an address change, a class E Felony and offering a false instrument for filing in the first degree, a class E Felony. Schermerhorn was arrested on January 17th 2014 at his residence in the Town of Varick. The charges stem from Schermerhorn being a registered level two sex offender and changing his address more then 10 days prior to notifing the Sheriff’s office. The offering a false instrument charge stems from Schermerhorn giving a false date of moving on a address change form filied with the Sheriff’s office when he did report the address change. Schermerhorn was arraigned in the Town of Waterloo court where he was held without bail in the Seneca County Correctional Facility. He is to appear in Seneca County Court at a later date.
