New hires in Geneva Central School District

The Geneva City School District now has a new director of Head Start and a new assistant high school principal.Karissa Schutt, education and disabilities coordinator for Head Start, was appointed interim director of that program at Monday’s school board meeting. Nathan Schneckenburger, a high school physical education teacher and chair of that department, was appointed interim assistant principal of the school at the same meeting.“We are truly lucky to have such talented teachers join our administrative team,” commented Superintendent Trina Newton.Mrs. Schutt replaces Director Jeanette Vaughn, who resigned from her post effective Dec. 31. Mrs. Schutt has been working for the district and Head Start since September 2005. Prior to that, she taught at Happiness House. She is certified to teach prekindergarten, kindergarten and grades 1-6 and has a Master of Science in reading and literacy education from Walden University, Minneapolis, MI, and a Bachelor of Science in elementary education from The College of Saint Rose, Albany, and has taken educational administration coursework at SUNY Brockport.Mr. Schneckenburger has been working for the district since November 2002, both as a physical education teacher and coach. He replaces Tricia Budgar, who is now the associate principal of Ninth Grade Academy. Mr. Schneckenburger is certified as a school building leader and physical education teacher. He has a Master of Science degree in educational leadership from St. John Fisher College and a Bachelor of Science in physical education from the State University of New York at Brockport.
