Sheriff David Gould reports the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office is continuing to investigate a fatal snowmobile accident which occurred January 4th at 5:19 pm on the seasonal portion of Cloverleaf Dr. in the Town of Locke.A northbound 2005 Yamaha snowmobile collided with a John Deere 4230 farm tractor on the portion of Cloverleaf Dr. which is closed to vehicular traffic this time of year. The operator of the snowmobile was transported to Cortland Memorial Hospital by Four Town Ambulance and pronounced dead on arrival. Deceased is: Frederick W. Kussin III age 55 of 187 Lookout Pass Stormsville, NY ( Dutchess County). Kussin also owned 2 homes on Hoag Ave. in Locke and was well known in the area.The farm tractor was operated by James S. Ball age 58 of 1430 Cloverleaf Dr. Locke, NY. Ball was not injured. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Locke Fire Department, Moravia Fire Department, Four Town Ambulance and the Cayuga County 911 Center. New York State Police stationed in Stormsville, NY assisted the Sheriff’s Office with family notifications.
