More harsh winter weather on the way

There may be some breaks of sun this morning, but there is a lot to talk about in the weather! Another shot of dangerous winter weather is on the way, with some patchy freezing rain today, lake effect snow, high winds and bitter cold. Keep reading for details…FREEZING RAIN- Some patchy freezing rain will be possible today, mostly across the eastern part of the region. Freezing rain advisories have been issued (top image, pink counties) as a precaution, but very little icing is expected. There will be a better chance for ice east of I-81 in the normally colder locations, but even these locations will not see more than a coating of ice.LAKE EFFECT SNOW- A cold front will blast through the region early Monday, leading to bitter cold and strong winds. Conditions are favorable for some very intense lake effect near the Great Lakes. Off of Lake Ontario, the heaviest snow will be due east of the lake over the Tug Hill. Off of Erie, the heaviest will be a bit south of Buffalo. In these areas, 2+ FEET of snow is possible by Wednesday.BITTER COLD- Remember the nasty cold we experienced on Friday? This cold shot will be at least that cold AND have stronger winds. The results will be more widespread windchill readings of -30 or lower. These are dangerous levels. The lowest wind chills will be Monday night and early Tuesday.Stay safe and stay warm!
