The Romulus man who admitted to killing his own son will spend the next 15 years to life in prison. 53-year-old Karl Karlsen was sentenced Monday afternoon at the Seneca County Courthouse in Waterloo. He previously pleaded guilty to killing his own son, Levi Karlsen, for insurance money.Karlsen plead guilty to killing his 23-year-old son in 2008 by causing a truck to fall on Levi as he worked underneath in the family garage on their property in Romulus.Karlsen was the sole beneficiary of Levi’s life insurance policy and received $700,000.
