Seneca County inmate charged in assault of CO

Seneca County Sheriff’s Investigators arrested Adam Jeffrey Briggs, age 26 of Haigh Street in Seneca Falls on November 8th.Investigators allege that on the 23rd day of October. while confined to the Seneca County Correctional Facility Housing Unit C, Briggs became disruptive and was directed to go to his cell in an attempt to maintain order and security in the housing unit.After several verbal commands were not followed. Correction Officers attempted to manually escort Adam Jeffrey Briggs into his cell. At which time Adam Jeffrey Briggs broke away from the Correction Officers and struck a Correction Officer in the head with a closed fist.This action caused a Correction Officer to hit the doorway of Briggs’ cell. Resulting in injuries to the Correction Officer resulting in severe pain, bleeding and discomfort which requiring Medical sutures to close the wound by Geneva General Hospital Medical Staff.Briggs was arraigned before Town Justice Gruele for Assault in the second degree sub 3 a class D Felony. Briggs was ROR’d until November 22nd 2013 at 10:30 hrs. for further court action. Briggs was returned to the Seneca County Correctional Facility to await further court action on a separate case.
