Trout defeated in Fayette after absentee count

Fayette Town Councilman Jeff Trout, a Democratic incumbent, had a lead of 4 votes after election night over his opponent Republican Jimmie Johnson. But, there was a total of 60 absentee ballots to be counted this week.They counted the absentee ballots on Wednesday and Johnson received 36 absentee votes to Trout’s 26, giving Johnson an unofficial six-vote win.Trout was also behind Democrat Bob Rodger by 16 votes after election night. The absentee count increased Rodger’s total margin to 21.
