Choose Health Yates Walk-Off a Success

The Choose Health Yates Coalition reached more than 50 Yates County community members through their third annual Walk-Off, which took place for 8 weeks, from July 8th to September 1st. This year, the coalition decided to walk the American Discovery Trail which stretches across more than 6,800 miles and 15 states.Participants submitted their total steps and duration of activity at the end of each week through an online link. Activities were then converted into steps and totaled with the number of steps walked to determine the number of miles walked by each team. Weekly flyers were dispersed to track progress. This year, our top walkers were Paul Casey from Penn Yan and Krystal Clancey from Dundee, congratulations! Paul walked a total of 1,249,982 steps and Krystal a total of 744,305 steps. Paul was awarded a one night stay at a local B&B and Krystal was awarded a one year membership to the YCRR Community Fitness and Wellness Center. Although our top walker was from Penn Yan, the Dundee Team came out on top, with a total of 8,278,189 steps (or 4,139 miles), great job!The Choose Health Yates Coalition would like to thank everyone that participated in the Walk-Off and made it such a success.
